Like with most popular cat breeds, Persian cats and kittens find
their way into shelters and rescues. There are many reasons for this - poorly
educated kitten buyers who are not ready for the responsibility of Persian cat
ownership, irresponsible cat breeders who indiscriminately place kittens with
anyone willing to pay their fee, kittens being sold through pet stores,
inadequate socialization of Persian kittens and more.
If you have decided that the Persian is the cat breed for you,
and don't have your heart set on a kitten, then you may want to consider giving
a great Persian cat a second chance at a happy, loving, forever home. Taking on
a rescue cat can be a huge responsibility and not for everyone, but for cat
lovers with plenty of love, patience, determination and willingness to
consistently nurture the cat/owner relationship, taking on a rescued Persian cat
or kittten can be an incredibly rewarding experience.
Persian rescues need more than just people to adopt their cats
and kittens too. Donations of time, money, services, supplies and more are
always welcome - and foster homes for cats and kittens are always needed.
